Why Aluminum?

Aluminum is strong and light and has excellent corrosion resistance in the marine environment. Similar sized boats of comparable durability made of fiberglass or carbon fiber will be heavier. The less mass for the boat, the easier it is to get the boat moving with less sail.

Construction of the boat

To achieve the lightness and durability of an aluminum boat does require more labor intensive work. It is not as simple as popping a fiberglass boat out of a mold. Basically, it is a time consuming and tedious process of building a frame out of bulkheads and T section tacked together with an aluminum skin bent and welded into place.
